One-Pan Creamy Tuscan Chicken: A Comforting, Nutritious Classic

by Harper Jessica

I don’t know about you, but some days just demand comfort food. You know the ones—long day, endless to-do list, and the last thing you want to do is stand over a sink full of dishes.

That’s exactly why this One-Pan Creamy Tuscan Chicken became a staple in my kitchen. It’s the kind of meal that feels restaurant-worthy but takes less effort than ordering takeout.

The first time I made it, I was trying to impress my family with something “fancy” but didn’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.

One bite in, and they were convinced I had suddenly leveled up as a chef. Little did they know, I threw it together in under 30 minutes with ingredients I already had.

The creamy garlic sauce, the pop of tangy sun-dried tomatoes, and the tender, juicy chicken—perfection in every bite.

If you love easy meals with huge flavor, this one’s for you. Let’s make it! 🍽️

Tips for Maximum Flavor & Nutrition

  • Choose high-quality chicken. If possible, go for organic, free-range chicken—it makes a difference in both texture and flavor.
  • Sear it well. That golden crust locks in moisture and flavor!
  • Use sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil. They’re softer and more flavorful than the dry-packed kind.
  • Lighten it up. Swap the heavy cream for Greek yogurt or coconut milk for a different twist.
  • Amp up the veggies. Add mushrooms, zucchini, or bell peppers for more color and nutrients.

Variations & Substitutions

  • Dairy-Free? Use full-fat coconut milk instead of cream and nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan.
  • Low-Carb? Skip the sun-dried tomatoes to reduce carbs, or use a lower-carb dairy alternative.
  • Protein Swap? This sauce pairs well with shrimp or even tofu for a vegetarian version.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve this creamy Tuscan chicken over mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or cauliflower rice.
  • Pair with a side of roasted asparagus or a simple green salad for a balanced meal.
  • Toast up some crusty bread to soak up every last drop of that delicious sauce.

A rich and creamy Tuscan-style chicken dish made in one pan with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and a garlic Parmesan sauce.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise to make 4 cutlets
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Sauce:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

For Garnish:

  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Extra Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sear for about 4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, then stir in the sun-dried tomatoes.

  4. Deglaze the Pan: Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any brown bits from the bottom (that’s where the flavor is!).

  5. Add Cream & Cheese: Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  6. Add Spinach: Toss in the fresh spinach and let it wilt into the sauce.

  7. Return the Chicken: Place the cooked chicken back into the pan, spooning the sauce over the top. Let it simmer for 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  8. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh basil and extra Parmesan before serving.

Notes

Pairs perfectly with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
